Role Mission: The mission of the Content Specialist role is to teach, manage, and support access to high-quality curriculum, assessments, and content-focused professional development within the Greater Cincinnati region. We are seeking an entrepreneurially-minded education leader interested in building curriculum and assessment supports from the ground floor. We are looking for an individual with a deep passion and conviction for the arts—an educator who will show students how the worlds of art designers, performers and media artists intersect historically, culturally, and aesthetically. Other course responsibilities may include Career Explorations, Performing Arts Primer, Social Media, Dance and Choreography, Visual Arts, Spanish, Humanities, STEM-oriented electives, and others as assigned or based on district needs.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

TBD; will provide “matrix-management” to teachers in assigned caseload.

 

Location:

This is a full-time on-site position based in Cincinnati, Ohio with preference given to candidates who live in Cincinnati, or who are willing to relocate.

 

Travel Expectations:

Position does require travel between campuses and offices in the Greater Cincinnati-area

 

What You’ll Do – Accountabilities

 

Essential Duties:

Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations for a combination of coursework including but not limited to: Career Explorations, Performing Arts Primer, Social Media Dance, and Choreography, Visual Arts, Spanish, Humanities, STEM oriented electives, and others as assigned or based on district needs.

 

Support teachers in the implementation of formal and informal assessments to track each individual student’s progress and learning needs, adjust lesson plans accordingly and update gradebook weekly  

 

Effective facilitation and personal use of technology as a communication and educational tool to improve student achievement and manage work-related tasks.

 

Identify, curate, and/or ensure access to a suite of curriculum products and instructional resources that aid the district in achieving established student achievement goals.

 

Serve as procurement team contact for planning region-wide curriculum ordering to ensure alignment with regional curriculum needs

 

Partner with IDEA HQ teams to ensure alignment to content area instructional practices for regional curriculum products

 

Create, upload, and ensure availability of high-quality, standards-aligned summative assessments within the appropriate testing platform by designated deadlines

 

Partner with IDEA National Assessment team through collaboration meetings and required trainings to ensure completion of assessment creation/deployment according to established deadlines

 

Ensure IDEA meets compliance requirements all curriculum and coursework

 

Organize Career & Technical Student Organization expansion for Greater Cincinnati Region

 

Manage facility updates for CTE courses/classrooms

 

Keep records of CTE teacher certifications/licensures and experience relevant to coursework taught and advanced degrees/PD for IBC instruction

 

Coordinate and create the calendar and guidelines for events for Career Technical Student Organization (CTSO) participation, CTSO Leadership and competitive events 

 

Periodically conduct assessment data analyses to provide curricular and instructional direction for teachers, campus leaders, and district leaders

 

Conduct classroom observations to diagnose, monitor, and develop action steps related to lesson preparation and instructional delivery

 

Provide curriculum implementation support through side-by-side planning with teachers to support with lesson internalization and implementation

 

Communicate observation and support findings with campus-based leadership by sharing feedback and support logs; observation findings; and next steps and results

 

Design, facilitate, and communicate teacher professional development plans for all courses in the content area

 

Identify and share trainings or recordings that are applicable and appropriate for curriculum including resources from external vendors; state trainings; or in the IDEA Best Practices library

 

Ensure region-specific training is available at Course Collaborations and New Teacher Institute for assigned course load

 

Provide logistics and coordination support for all trainings for assigned course load

 

Participate in operating mechanisms with multi-level stakeholders, as required or requested. These operating mechanisms may include: participate in planning sessions for data and observation feedback and next steps Identify, curate, and/or ensure access to a suite of curriculum products and instructional resources that aid the district in achieving established student achievement goals.

What You Bring – Competencies

 

Knowledge and Skills:

Curriculum Design: Proficiency in the elements and processes of curriculum design and development, enabling the creation of comprehensive, research-based, and user-friendly educational materials.

Knowledge of State Standards: Possess a deep understanding of state and national educational standards to ensure curriculum alignment and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Knowledge of Assessments: Familiarity with any content/grade level specific assessments allowing for effective curriculum design and assessment preparation tailored to specific testing requirements.

Research Expertise: Stay informed about content-area best practices through ongoing research, incorporating the research-based pedagogical approaches and methodologies into curriculum design and development.

Organizational and Communication Skills: Exceptional organizational skills to manage curriculum development processes efficiently. Strong communication skills to convey ideas, instructions, and expectations clearly and effectively.

Interpersonal skills: Works well with others; treats others with respect; shares views in a tactful way.

 

Required experience:

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree or advanced degree preferred

Strong Knowledge/Expertise in assigned content areas and relevant assessments

A minimum of five years teaching experience in the relevant content areas

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite; educational technology, learning management systems, or specific software related to curriculum design

 

Preferred experience:
A strong record of student achievement results as a teacher and/or school leader/district administrator
 

A strong record of results as a curriculum writer or developer
 

Experience designing system-wide assessments and curriculum products in the relevant content area

Experience facilitating/designing professional development for educators

Leadership Experience: Particularly in managing teams or projects related to curriculum development

 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged amounts of time

Ability to lift up to 20 pounds at times

Ability to complete periodic travel required for meetings, classroom observations, trainings and conferences,

Compensation & Benefits:

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $73,955 and $90,000, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
