Content Designer
Sage
Content Designer
Job Description:
*Hybrid working - 3 days a week in our Newcastle office
At Sage, content designers play a critical role in making our software easy to use for millions of
small and medium-sized business owners around the world. We are passionate about creating
clear, compelling content that provides customers with the information they need, when they
need it, and in a format they expect.
Our content designers are part of multidisciplinary Agile product teams, working closely with
UX designers, translators, product managers, business analysts/solution designers,
engineering and quality assurance, as well as other teams, such as customer support and
learning services.
We are looking for a Content Designer to create and manage content for one of our AI-powered
software solutions in the Small Business segment that is used across Europe.
In this role, you will:
• Design and refine the content in our software: This includes creating in-app
microcopy such as text on buttons, in menus, helpful tips, and messages that guide
users. Your focus will be making it clear, accurate, and easy to understand for everyone
following accessibility standards.
• Write and review digital content: This involves writing customer-facing digital product
guides to help customers use the product, messages to guide the user through the
product, and What’s New Guides, where needed.
• Prepare content for a global audience: Write with an understanding of localisation
and translation. Coordinate the translation of content into European languages for
countries where the product is available. This involves collaborating with translators.
• Help shape the user journey: Understand how users (from first-time users to experts)
learn what information they need at each step to complete their tasks successfully.
• Work with the design team: Collaborate with UX designers to create journey maps,
wireframes, prototypes and design user interfaces for releases.
• Learn from our users: Work with and support user researchers, analysing and iterating
content based on data and usability findings.
• Help lead the design and implementation of strategies: Work with stakeholders
including the UX Team Lead, Content Design Team Lead and Translation Team Lead to
evaluate current strategies and content processes to ensure business requirements are
being met. Propose and implement improvements as needed.
• Build relationships with stakeholders to understand business requirements and to
share content design strategies and designs.
• Participate in quality assurance procedures to ensure content is accurate and
effective before products or features are released.
• Use and contribute to content guidelines: Use our writing style guides, design
standards, and content tools to ensure consistency across products at Sage and
contribute to our Content Community of Practice.

as content designers in the wider Experience Design team.
• Make a difference: Participate in company-wide initiatives, including volunteer days, to
contribute to our communities.
Key Responsibilities:

You will:

and business objectives. This will include in-app content in the software, as well as
digital help and product guidance, messages to guide the user, and support for What’s
New guides, as needed.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to understand, deliver, test and review features and
products, sometimes to simultaneous deadlines.
• Collaborate with UX designers to create journey maps, user flows and prototypes.
• Design content with an understanding of localisation and translation and collaborate
with translators and use translation tools to translate content into the different
languages needed for the product.

patterns, working with stakeholders to ensure business needs are met.
• Learn, use, and contribute to resources such as the Sage Style Guide, Design System,
and Content Design Community of Practice templates as you work.
