Administer solution design plans and processes to support the Business growth and retention agenda; delivering cost benefit to the business and customers through design and execution of solutions in line with overall business strategy, product development, industry and market needs, Group guidelines and policies. Job outputs include creation of designs (layouts, flows, equipment list, digitalization, automation) while supporting the implementation teams where/when needed.

The role of the solutions designer is to understand current operations & customer requests including data analysis to create and operational profile (plus materials flow).
• The entry level solutions designer is expected to adhere (O2D) process and support other solutions designers (in region, out of region) on discrete elements of solutions design (Primarily on Layouts, Data Analysis, CoS creation, Sizing and Resource Modelling)
• Experience of using specialist software to perform the role depending on region and practice including but not limited to AutoCAD, Class, Sketchup, FlexSim, Anylogic, SC Guru, Visio, Merlin, regional cost models.
• Progress concepts into detailed solution designs (including layouts, flows, equipment list, digitalization, automation etc.)
• Prepare content to support transitions through handover. (Training Content) – Responsible to drive specific service communities within GSDC and further develop the team by organizing training sessions along with knowledge sharing on best practices.
• Familiar with working globally, leveraging expertise across the community plus outsourcing specialist tasks to others.
• Responsible to mentor and coach the entry level professionals.
• Support transition (implementation) through handover, training
• Work with other solutions designers (in region, out of region) to support some or all aspects of the design work including providing expertise (concept reviews) or specialist services (e.g. simulation to validate solutions)
• Input to improving the way of working including raising challenges / opportunities, scoping requirements, supporting development & testing plus use of the global & regional tools. In addition provide input to update & improve tools (regional & global via the GSDC / CoE)
• Developing content for service catalogues, contribution to GSDC’s newsletters, webinars, townhalls, presentation to global visitors and other branding initiatives.
