Governance and Oversight is a First Line control group within the Three Lines of Defense model. We collaborate with the strategic Business Units and work across Functional Groups to grow our business resiliency and value while managing risk. In addition, we steward the processes for assessing the design and operating effectiveness of the internal control environment, and we strengthen the CIBC Risk Management Framework with related policies and processes. **What You’ll Be Doing** As a member of the US Technology, Infrastructure & Innovation Governance & Oversight (G&O) , you’ll support the risk management activities for the Deposit, Payments and Loan Operations teams. This will include supporting the business in the identification of controls, participating in risk assessments, leading remediation of deficiencies, writing of procedures, monitoring business processes, and reporting on business risk outcomes. This role will liaise with the second and third lines of defense on new/ changes to risk programs, gathering evidence and support during exams, and providing subject matter expertise over the Deposit, Payments and Loan Operations processes executed by the teams. You will exercise independent judgement within defined procedures and provide recommendations for best practices through experiences and observation, for use by other team members as part of knowledge sharing and to ensure consistency in approach. In addition, you will solve business, operations and technical problems within the scope of your role, escalating unusual cases outside of documented procedures to management. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview._ **How You’ll Succeed** + **Internal Client Engagement** – Meet with internal clients to understand their priorities and advise them on Operational risk management solutions. Use your knowledge of Operational risk management to protect the organization by providing proactive advisory services to Loan, Deposit and Payment Operations teams in deploying risk management measures and in remediating known issues. + **Risk Management** – Leverage your Operational risk management solutions expertise to share your knowledge by introducing ideas to the organization to continuously maintain an acceptable risk posture that is aligned with the industry peers, regulatory requirements and CIBC’s risk appetite + **Communication** – Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills. You will communicate effectively with internal and external teams, and different lines of business. + **Relationship Management** – You’ll create trusted advisory relationships with all partners across all lines of defense, inclusive of Operational Risk Management, Internal Audit, Enterprise counterparts, and control assessment teams. + **Collaboration** – Engaging with cross functional teams across all three lines of defense to foster open communication, value diverse perspectives, ensuring that all voices are heard, and contributing to shared success. You will build trust within the team, encouraging a supportive environment that enhances creativity and problem-solving. + **Time and Project Management** – Leverage your strong project management skills to proactively manage timelines and keeping direct managers and internal client informed of predicted/ preliminary results + **Understand Requirements** – Conduct analysis of processes and functional requirements to provide proactive advice and guidance to internal stakeholders to ensure that the requirements and work packages are appropriately defined and completed. + **Risk Assessment/Risk Consulting** - Work closely with line of business (LOB) partners to proactively identify risk exposures and control gaps. Analyze and synthesize risk exposures, operational losses, root causes and control gaps. Lead the assessment and recommendation of self-assessed deficiencies to mitigate risk exposures and control gaps. Acts as the risk and controls Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing expert advice to Line of Business partners. Participate in business, governance and regulatory projects, typically medium to highly complex initiatives, to identify risk and control issues. Lead all Internal Audits, Compliance Exams, AML/ CEEP, and GORM Reviews for the LOB regarding audit scope review & finalization, requests for information, fieldwork support and potential deficiency management. + **Risk Subject Matter Expertise** – Understand and communicate requirements related to fraud, AML, compliance, data, and transaction processing risks. Be able to translate risk requirements into process and controls. Identify efficiency opportunities within existing processes to ensure process + **Control Framework** **Design/Execution/Management** - Understand and communicate Control Framework requirements to LOB partners to ensure awareness and understanding and impacts. Lead the completion of CIBC Control Framework requirements, including Risk and Controls Self Assessments (RCSAs), Key Regulatory Indicators (KRIs). Act as the Maintenance Officer for Operational Process Controls (OPCs), Financial Process Controls (FPCs) and Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) controls. Develop & present Executive Reporting on the governance & controls environment of the sub LOB. **Who You Are** + You have 5+ years of Banking experience, some client facing preferred. Regulatory, AML and/or Risk experience required. You can demonstrate experience interpreting, policies, and procedures to ensure timeliness and accuracy of processes under review. Working knowledge of potential risks including AML and Regulatory, and first line processes and procedures to effectively identify issues in the quality of the processes and/or controls. Risk and/or AML and Regulatory experience from a first line perspective is preferred. + **You give meaning to data** . You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. This role has an expected salary range of $90,000- 115,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
