Construction Manager

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager with a mechanical engineering background to lead and oversee the successful delivery of mechanical construction activities across the mining and processing projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise in mechanical systems, and a commitment to safety and quality.

 

Key Responsibilities

Lead a small team of direct reports in managing small mechanical packages—particularly in gold and copper mining projects Lead and manage all mechanical construction activities on-site, ensuring safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery. Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to ensure mechanical designs are implemented accurately. Supervise installation of mechanical equipment including pumps, piping systems, tanks, pressure vessels, conveyors, and modular plant components. Manage small mechanical packages such as elution systems, reagent dosing skids, crushing upgrades, and CIP/CIL modules. Ensure compliance with mechanical specifications, project scope, and HSE standards. Oversee mechanical QA/QC processes, inspections, and testing procedures. Resolve technical issues related to mechanical systems and implement corrective actions. Plan and manage site logistics, mechanical resource allocation, and construction sequencing. Provide regular updates to senior management on mechanical progress, risks, and milestones. Support commissioning and performance testing of mechanical systems. Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

 

Qualifications & Experience

Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management. Minimum of 10 years’ experience in mechanical construction within the mining or heavy industrial sectors. Candidates with experience managing packages of gold and copper mining projects are desirable. Strong understanding of mechanical systems, modular plant construction, and process infrastructure. Familiarity with Australian and international mechanical codes and standards. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. Proficiency in project management tools and mechanical documentation. Growth mindset with a proactive approach to learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the organisation.
