**Job Title: Construction Inspector**
**Job Description**
The Mechanical Inspector will be an integral part of the Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division, contributing to various projects within the Capital Improvement Program. The role involves meticulous inspection of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems at airport facilities to ensure adherence to relevant codes, standards, and project specifications.
**Responsibilities**
+ Conduct daily inspections of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in airport buildings and terminals.
+ Ensure compliance with construction plans, specifications, contracts, permits, environmental documents, and agency standards.
+ Review and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
+ Prepare detailed daily inspection reports documenting construction activities, issues, and safety concerns.
+ Verify contractor compliance with local and national codes, including NEC, NFPA 70, 70E, and 72, as well as mechanical/plumbing codes and LAWA-specific standards.
+ Track time-and-material work, field changes, and job quantities.
+ Validate contractor progress payment requests against approved schedules.
+ Support special inspections and testing activities in coordination with engineers, contractors, and third-party agencies.
+ Perform inspections of MEP installations, including domestic water and sewage systems, venting, fire sprinklers, gas piping, HVAC systems, smoke control systems, and mechanical ventilation.
+ Inspect IT infrastructure installations, including low-voltage systems, door card readers, security cameras, and public address systems.
**Essential Skills**
+ 3+ years of experience in mechanical inspections for building construction.
+ Thorough knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration installation methods.
+ Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Mechanical Inspector.
+ Proof of Cal-OSHA 30-hour training within the last 4 years.
+ Fall protection and confined space entry training.
+ LAWA SIDA badge required prior to start.
+ Ability to work any assigned shift (day, swing, night).
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Additional ICC certifications in Electrical and Plumbing Inspection.
+ NFPA 70E standards training within the last 3 years.
+ Experience as a journeyman/master electrician or plumber.
+ Experience inspecting large-scale commercial, industrial, or public buildings.
+ Strong understanding of building codes and stakeholder coordination.
+ Excellent communication and time management skills.

**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Los Angeles, CA.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $85.00/hr.
