Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a Construction Inspector in our Newark, DE Office for a variety of infrastructure projects throughout the Delaware-Maryland-Pennsylvania tri-state area. Typical assignments may include water and wastewater projects, erosion and sediment control inspection, stormwater facilities inspection, and other projects throughout the tri state area.

Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection dutiesPerforms daily field inspections and maintains inspection recordsParticipates in pre-construction meetings, punch list preparation, testing, and commissioningConducts safety inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policiesReviews and interprets construction drawings, specifications, and contract documentsCoordinates with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure project progressPerforms material testing and quality control checks as required by project specificationsMonitors and documents construction progress, including taking photographs and maintaining detailed logsAssists in the preparation of change orders and contract modifications as neededAttends and contributes to project meetings, providing updates on inspection findings and construction progressEnsures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations throughout the construction processUnderstands construction plans, shop drawing submittals, specifications, and applicable codes and regulations, and identifies and documents deficiencies and deviations observed in the fieldDemonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports in Microsoft WordWorks frequently outdoors in a variety of seasonal weather conditionsWalks several miles daily to perform job duties, often across outdoor construction environments with a variety of uneven terrains such as mud, rock, grass, dirt and other unpaved terrains and variable outdoor conditions including heat, cold, dust, and noise

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma plus 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education.U.S. Citizenship is required, due to the nature of the workU.S. Valid Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review

Preferred Qualifications:

Construction inspection experience on a variety of infrastructure projectTraveling experience, frequent traveling to field locationsProficiency with Microsoft Excel and WordDNREC Certified Construction Reviewer certificationDetailed-oriented and ability to maintain a professional and positive attitudeAbility to work independently with limited direct supervision
