Job Description:
The Construction Engineer – Dewatering is a key site-based technical role responsible for overseeing the daily field activities related to groundwater control. The Engineer ensures that the dewatering design, installation, monitoring, and maintenance are executed strictly according to Parsons' specifications, quality standards, and environmental protocols.
Site Execution and QA/QC:Perform routine and specialized site inspections of dewatering installations, including deep wells, well point systems, monitoring instruments, and pumping equipment, ensuring adherence to approved method statements and drawings.
Manage the field verification and logging of well drilling and installation records.
Verify the accurate setup and calibration of groundwater monitoring instrumentation (piezometers, inclinometers) and assist the hydrogeology team in real-time data collection.
Prepare detailed daily and weekly QA/QC reports on construction progress, non-conformance issues, and necessary corrective actions related to dewatering works.
Review contractor payment applications based on verifiable completion of dewatering milestones.
Technical Support and Coordination:Act as a technical liaison between the Senior Project Manager, the design team, and the main construction contractor’s dewatering team on site.
Assist in the review of contractor's material submittals and shop drawings for dewatering system components.
Proactively identify and report potential technical issues or schedule delays related to groundwater conditions, proposing practical, site-specific mitigation measures.
Ensure that all decommissioned wells and boreholes are properly sealed and abandoned in compliance with regulatory and project environmental standards.
Safety and Environmental Compliance:Promote and enforce site safety procedures for all dewatering operations, particularly those involving heavy equipment, deep excavations, and electrical works (HSE).
Coordinate with the Environmental team to ensure proper collection, testing, and compliant discharge or reuse of extracted groundwater.
4. Required QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related field.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in construction or engineering, with at least 5 years directly managing or supervising the installation and operation of large-scale dewatering systems on major infrastructure or coastal projects.
Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of various dewatering techniques (deep wells, well points, vacuum systems), pump sizing, and groundwater instrumentation.
Skills: Proficiency in reviewing technical drawings, specifications, and method statements. Excellent site supervision, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
5. Desired AttributesDirect experience working on projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or the wider Middle East region.
Experience with deep excavation support systems (diaphragm walls, sheet piles) and their integration with dewatering systems.
Relevant professional certification (e.g., Engineer in Training, or equivalent registration).
