Job Title: Pipeline Construction Supervisor – Oil and Gas
Location: Papua New Guinea (FIFO)
Reports To: Pipeline Construction Lead
Pipeline Construction Oversight
Ensure compliance with Santos Management System (SMS), Delegation of Authority (DOA), and corporate governance requirements. Oversee contractor activities per work pack scopes and contractual obligations. Review and approve Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS). Verify compliance with Permit to Work (PTW) system. Facilitate handover of completed scope items, including ITPs, documentation, and punch list closeouts. Validate contractor records for labor, materials, and equipment. Maintain a daily log of activities, performance, and delays. Review weekly schedule updates and ensure recovery plans for delays. Monitor implementation of Health, Safety, Security (HSS) and environmental plans. Interface with QA/QC teams to ensure adherence to quality standards.Additional Responsibilities
Support Pipeline Construction Lead in managing scope, interfaces, and communications. Assist with near-term execution planning (personnel moves, road closures, etc.). Report daily progress, constraints, and opportunities. Resolve interface issues promptly, including local contractor engagement. Collaborate with Project Controls for accurate cost and progress reporting. Promote team development and effective decision-making. Professional ExperienceEssential:
10+ years in construction roles within upstream oil & gas. Brownfield project experience in oil & gas, energy, or resources sector. Proven experience in pipeline and civil infrastructure works (installation, testing, commissioning). Strong understanding of pipeline construction methodologies and best practices. Leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Experience with PTW systems and site safety requirements. Proficiency in MS Office and construction reporting tools. Familiarity with logistics and landowner engagement in PNG or remote sites. Remote rotational assignments (FIFO) experience.Desired:
Ability to work back-to-back shifts with effective handovers. Flexibility for 28-day shifts. Santos site experience (highly regarded). Practical, hands-on, and solutions-oriented approach. Safety-focused and culturally sensitive. Technical Competencies Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. Knowledge of oil & gas industry standards, codes, and PNG regulations. Certifications: White Card, First Aid, CPR (preferred). HRW license, Working at Heights, Confined Space (highly regarded). Qualifications Formal qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, or related trade experience.
