Construction Accountant
Description We are looking for an experienced Construction Accountant to join our team in the Central Valley. In this role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the accounting cycle, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and providing financial insights to support decision-making. Responsibilities: • Oversee the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and month-end closing procedures. • Prepare, review, and submit certified payroll reports in compliance with prevailing wage requirements. • Maintain accurate financial records for multiple construction projects across various locations. • Generate financial statements and management reports to support organizational goals. • Reconcile labor costs by working with external staffing agencies and ensuring accurate reporting. • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, particularly those specific to the construction industry. • Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts on a regular basis. • Collaborate with leadership to provide financial analysis and insights for strategic planning. • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Requirements • Proven experience as a Construction Accountant or a similar role within the construction industry. • Expertise in certified payroll processes and compliance. • Strong proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. • Thorough understanding of construction-specific accounting practices, including job costing. • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and effectively prioritize multiple tasks. • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities. • Strong communication skills to interact with internal teams and external vendors. • Familiarity with multi-state payroll and tax regulations is preferred.
