Job Title: ICC Special Inspector

Description:

We are seeking an ICC Special Inspector with at least 2 years of experience and a valid Reinforced Concrete certification. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with a geotechnical engineering or materials testing firm. This role involves performing field inspections, testing, and observations during construction to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct field testing and inspections on materials such as:SoilsReinforcing steelConcreteMasonryStructural steelFireproofingMetal deckingRoofingAsphalt pavingReview construction sites for code and specification compliance.Coordinate with contractors and field personnel.Prepare detailed Daily Field Reports documenting contractor activities and compliance status.Communicate project progress with the department manager.Transport material samples and equipment (up to 50 lbs), including a nuclear densometer (25 lbs).

Required Certifications (must have one of each):

ACI Certification:Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I

AND one of the following ICC Certifications:

Reinforced ConcreteStructural MasonryPre-stressed/Post-tensioned ConcreteStructural Steel BoltingStructural Steel Welding

Preferred Certifications (a plus):

AWS-CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) with construction inspection experienceOBOA (Oregon Building Officials Association)WABO (Washington Association of Building Officials)ODOT CertificationsNuclear Density Gauge training and certification

Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years of construction inspection or materials testing experienceExperience in at least one of the following:Concrete testingReinforced concrete inspectionStrong communication and documentation skillsValid driver’s licenseAbility to work independently and manage time effectively

Skills:

Concrete and materials testingACI/ICC certificationsStructural masonry and concrete inspectionConstruction site complianceWelding and steel inspection (preferred)Familiarity with NDT (non-destructive testing) methods

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $50.00/hr.
