Computer Operator (Data Center Services Technician III)
Location: Rochester, NY
Schedule: C Shift – Tuesday through Saturday, 12:30 AM to 9:00 AM (daytime training and schedule flexibility available)
Work Type: On-site, full-time
Overview
Join a mission-critical IT operations team supporting a secure, enterprise-grade data center environment. This role provides first- and second-level support for systems and service desk operations in a 24/7/365 infrastructure. You’ll troubleshoot and resolve issues across hardware, applications, operating systems, voice and network services, and participate in monitoring and escalation workflows.
Key Responsibilities
+ Technical Troubleshooting (35%)
+ Diagnose and resolve issues related to computing hardware, operating systems, software, servers, email, networking, voice systems, backup utilities, and security incidents. Perform health checks and maintain documentation.
+ Data Center Operations (15%)
+ Monitor systems and environmental controls. Maintain logs and documentation. Support ongoing infrastructure projects.
+ Security & Systems Administration (10%)
+ Identify and respond to security threats. Assist with Windows system administration tasks.
+ Service Response & Communication (10%)
+ Respond to service interruptions and technical issues. Communicate effectively during outages and escalations.
+ Maintenance & After-Hours Support (10%)
+ Participate in scheduled maintenance windows and provide overnight support coverage.
+ Collaboration & Continuous Learning (5%)
+ Work closely with cross-functional teams and stay current with evolving IT technologies.
+ Other Duties (15%)
+ Support enterprise operations and contribute to team initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
+ Experience in desktop support and troubleshooting (Windows 10, hardware, NOC operations)
+ Minimum 1 year of IT support experience
+ Ability to perform server reboots and phone-based support
+ Familiarity with Blade Chassis Servers
+ Strong communication, customer service, and documentation skills
Preferred Skills:
+ Windows administration
+ Help desk or technical support background
+ Experience in computer operations or data center environments

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rochester, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
