Compute Services Reliability Engineer
**Job Description Summary** This Compute Services Reliability Engineer role is accountable for supporting technical build and operational delivery for GE Aerospace’s compute infrastructure. This requires a technical understanding of compute services, automation, and reliability engineering practices that underpin the performance and availability of critical business applications to GE Aerospace. This role will work with GE’s partners and suppliers to operate the IT compute footprint at current Data Centers and sites, including operational overview and support of virtualized environments, containerized workloads and physical server environments. This role works closely with GE Aerospace Cloud, Data Center, Infrastructure, Compute, and Network teams to support GE Aerospace. **Job Description** **Essential Responsibilities:** **In this role you will:** + Manage technical operations of compute services and infrastructure for GE Aerospace. + Act as a point of escalation and support with technical partners and suppliers for ongoing operational support, transitions, and updates related to compute services across GE Aerospace hosting. + Continuously optimize compute infrastructure to ensure cost-effectiveness, scalability, and reliability. + Implement and maintain automation frameworks to improve system reliability and reduce manual intervention. + Provide technical delivery and support across a range of infrastructure components and services as they relate to compute requirements and technologies, including (but not limited to) Windows, Linux/Unix, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, NTP, Replication, VMware, Kubernetes, and AWS. + Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation tasks + Lead level 3 incident response efforts by quickly diagnosing the root cause of system outages, coordinating with relevant teams to mitigate issues, and documenting post-incident analysis to prevent recurrence. + Support managed services teams with the upgrading, patching, and maintenance of compute software/hardware as required. + Partner with Cyber Security to ensure vulnerability management is operationally effective for GE Aerospace across its compute services at its sites and Data Centers. + Help reduce and remove GE Aerospace EoS/EoL (tech debt) strategy for compute technologies. + Investigate complex system issues, conduct thorough root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to avoid future occurrences. + Support GE Aerospace evaluation of emerging compute technologies, industry, and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities for compute services. + Help build future infrastructure and compute services for our sites and CoLo services. **Basic Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in computer science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in compute services, site reliability engineering, or infrastructure. + Recent experience that shows the ability to support enterprise-grade compute infrastructure. + Experience managing compute infrastructure solutions and implementing SRE practices. + Experience communicating across multiple stakeholder levels, including suppliers and leadership. **Eligibility Requirements: (Country Specific)** + Willing to travel as required. **Desired Characteristics:** + Able to analyze, diagnose, and resolve deep technical compute challenges as they relate to implementation of infrastructure-based technologies. + Technical tenacity with an intense focus on resolving technical roadblocks. + Automation-first technical thinker with a desire to improve processes and adopt common technical best-fit practices. + Experience with cloud compute services such as AWS EC2 or Azure Virtual Machines + Ability to learn legacy and new technologies across compute services. + Collaborates with project management on reporting project status, issues, risks, and benefits. + Meets with project leaders to ensure progress towards architectural alignment with project goals and requirements. + Experience with monitoring tools like NewRelic, VROPS or Splunk. + High Say/Do Ratio. + Able to influence multiple levels of technical stakeholders to deliver advantageous outcomes. **Note:** The salary range for this position is $93,000 - $135,000 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive plan. This posting is expected to close on July, 25th, 2025.
