**Computational Biologist/Bioinformatics Scientist - Ophthalmology**
**Location:** Remote (Must be available during PST hours)
**Type:** Contract (1-year with opportunity for extension)
**Pay Rate:** $40-$53/hr (Flexible for exceptional candidates)
**Schedule:** Standard business hours, PST timezone
**About the Role**
We are seeking an experienced Computational Biologist/Bioinformatics Scientist to join our cross-functional research teams focused on advancing therapeutic discovery in ophthalmology. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge target identification and biomarker development programs aimed at treating ocular diseases through innovative computational approaches.
**Core Responsibilities**
+ Analyze public and proprietary bulk RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, and spatial transcriptomics datasets to support therapeutic hypothesis generation and target discovery initiatives.
+ Evaluate large-scale expression and proteomic datasets to identify novel targets, biomarkers, and support drug development programs in ophthalmology.
+ Provide computational assessment and implementation strategies for omics technologies in clinical trial settings.
+ Investigate mechanisms of therapeutic intervention and drug efficacy in patients with various ocular conditions.
+ Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate computational findings into actionable research insights.
**Qualifications**
+ **PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or related quantitative field.**
+ **3-5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience preferred.**
+ **Advanced proficiency in R and Python programming languages.**
+ **Demonstrated experience with single-cell RNA sequencing analysis and proteomic data interpretation.**
+ **Hands-on experience with spatial transcriptomics data analysis and visualization.**
+ Strong understanding of cell biology fundamentals and familiarity with ophthalmology concepts.
+ Experience working with large-scale genomic and proteomic datasets.
+ Proven ability to work effectively in collaborative, cross-functional team environments.
