Description
The on-site Comptroller is responsible for all areas relating to financial strategy, book keeping, reporting, and assists with AP/AR functions. This is a hands-on position and responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, potential year-end audit preparation, and the support of budget and forecast activities. The Accounting Manager will report directly to the Company’s CEO.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
•Establish and enforce proper and consistent accounting methods, policies, and principles
•Restructure and improve any pre-existing internal financial statements, including assessing current general ledger setup and modifying as appropriate
•Monitoring and analyzing accounting data and production of financial reports and/or statements
•Gain a deep understanding of Company operations/strategy to regularly provide additional value
•Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
•Perform budget and forecasting and forecasting activities
•Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO
•Regularly interface with the company principals, CEO, and Board members.
•Support senior leadership on strategic initiatives and operational improvements
•Performing, managing, and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting function, including
•Accurate and timely processing of accounts payable transactions
•Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions in the general ledger as well as communicating with, and overseeing, the outsourced payroll function
•Perform weekly client billings and manage accounts receivable for timely collections
•Manage the daily banking and cash management requirements
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting requiredComplete understanding of the accounting cycle and Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (GAAP) requiredMinimum 3 to 5 years hands on general ledger and financial statement preparation requiredAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/responsibilitiesAbility to use Quickbooks requiredProficient in Microsoft Office Suite (outlook, word, excel) and Power BIProven ability to apply critical thinking skillsProven ability to interpret policies and proceduresProven ability to build positive relationships with leadership, co-workers, and staffAdvanced organizational skillsSelf-starter with the ability to identify and solve problems independentlyCPA or CGMA desirable and preferredJob Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Peoria, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $107000.00 - $135000.00/hr.
