Composites & CMC FLIGHT DECK Lean Manager
Job Description SummaryThe Composites & CMC FLIGHT DECK Lean Manager is a critical role responsible to support Operational Excellence team based in Huntsville. The candidate will be part of the Lean Implementation team for the site and would be further developing and supporting the roll-out of Operational Excellence journey. Candidates must be able to work independently and be self-directed.

Job Description

This will include, but is not limited to:

Drive visual management initiatives for the Huntsville siteAct as coordinator for Lean initiatives (Process Optimization) on-siteIndividually lead Operational Excellence events such as, Kaizen events, process mapping, Kanban implementation, etc.Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on issues impacting manufacturing or other business processesDrive process stability through implementation of standard workIndividually seek out cost savings initiatives through reductions in the 8 forms of wasteAbility to perform daily Lean activities such as, but not limited to, Gemba Walks, Visual Management, audit areas with and update site leadershipLead and manage 5S events, Kaizens, Value Stream Mapping’s on a short notice to help relevant departments with problem solving and facilitationProvide support during Lean/Quality/Health and Safety/Environmental auditsProvide support to implement lean or six sigma methodology to opportunities that may impact safety, the customer, quality or costProvide engineering support for projectsManage technical aspects of the processes in the area of responsibility in order to enhance EHS performance, quality, throughput, and yieldRegularly presenting to Site Leadership and other groups the benefits and challenges of an effectively run Operational Excellence program at the site level

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university or another related technical discipline AND a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Lean, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, or a related field in a manufacturing environment.OR a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 7 years of experience in Lean, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, or a related field in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

Chemical industry experience preferredSupplier Audit Certification preferredWorking knowledge with Operational Excellence improvement processes in one or more of the following areas: Plant Optimization, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, Lean OperationBroad knowledge of operations, process and mechanical equipment, and automation conceptsStrong team collaboration skills and ability to react and lead in changing environmentExcellent written and oral communication skills and high PC aptitude (MS Office applications, SAP a plus)Ability to manage internal / external relationships, perform problem solving and lead eventsAbility to manage multiple projects across the siteStrong customer relationship management experienceSix Sigma Certification preferredBlack Belt preferredMS Project preferred
