Job Description
As a Safety Specialist, you will assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs aimed at reducing the frequency of accidents and injuries, while also minimizing overall workers’ compensation costs. You will engage with Tier 2 chemistry and chemical concerns, ensuring a safe workplace for all employees.
Responsibilities
+ Plan, implement, communicate, and monitor safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations.
+ Audit various safety program elements for effectiveness and perform safety inspections to identify issues and develop corrective action plans alongside the Director of EHS.
+ Supervise, control, and monitor fire prevention and firefighting activities.
+ Investigate all accidents and injuries, recommend corrective actions, and coordinate through root cause analysis completion.
+ Lead safety training programs designed to instruct employees in general safe work practices and specific instructions regarding hazards unique to any job assignment, and provide training for new employees.
+ Maintain thorough knowledge of federal and state OSHA regulations, safety codes, and regulations, and distribute new or revised safety standards affecting the company.
+ Review and respond to OSHA inquiries in partnership with the Director of EHS.
+ Identify potential safety hazards at all facilities and report hazards with recommendations for eliminating/reducing to management.
+ Coordinate with other departments on the design and construction of new equipment, facilities, and work methods to ensure compliance with safety policies and regulations.
+ Encourage employees and supervisors to report all unsafe conditions immediately and schedule or coordinate repairs as soon as possible.
+ Train employees and supervisors to report any injury that occurs on the job immediately.
+ Maintain records for statistical measurement and conformance to standard practices of the safety industry.
+ Prepare and maintain required safety reports.
+ Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Essential Skills
+ 3-5 years of related experience.
+ Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) preferred in Chemistry or Regulatory.
+ Experience with stormwater and wastewater management.
+ Knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance standards.
+ Proficient in Word, Excel, Visio, and Publisher.
+ Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
+ Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

+ Bilingual skills a plus.
+ GSP, CSP certification a plus.
+ First Aid/CPR/AED Trainer certification a plus.
+ OSHA 10/30 Instructor certification a plus.
Work Environment
The role is primarily on-site in Mentor with 10% domestic travel involved. You will be part of a dynamic team, working in an environment that demands high standards of safety compliance and regulatory adherence.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $98000.00/yr.
