Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HR Compliance Officer with a strong background in paralegal work to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that our organization adheres to all relevant labor laws, regulations, and industry standards. This position requires a deep understanding of both human resources and legal compliance, as well as the ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes.
Responsibilities:
Legal Compliance:
+ Stay abreast of changes in employment laws, regulations, and industry standards.
+ Conduct regular audits to ensure organizational compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
+ Collaborate with legal counsel to interpret and apply laws to company policies and practices.
Policy Development:
+ Develop, review, and update HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
+ Provide guidance on policy implementation and enforcement.
Training and Education:
+ Conduct training sessions for HR staff and relevant stakeholders to ensure awareness of compliance requirements.
+ Develop educational materials on legal compliance topics for company-wide distribution.
Investigations:
+ Collaborate with legal counsel during investigations, as needed.
+ Conduct investigations into HR-related complaints, ensuring thorough documentation and adherence to legal standards.
Recordkeeping:
+ Oversee the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date employee records to ensure compliance with recordkeeping requirements.
Reporting:
+ Prepare and submit required compliance reports to regulatory agencies.
+ Assist in the preparation of responses to legal inquiries or complaints.
Contract Review:
+ Review employment contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Collaboration:
+ Work closely with HR leadership, legal counsel, and other departments to address compliance concerns and develop solutions.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Law, or a related field.
+ Paralegal certification or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
+ Proven experience in HR compliance roles, with a focus on legal aspects.
+ In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
+ Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
