Compactor Technician
Waste Connections has an immediate position available for a Container Repair / Welder located in Brooklyn NY, in this position you will wear a few different hats, but main duties will include welding, fabricating and compactor repair. This is a full-time, long-term position with a great company. We work in an environment where empowered, self-directed All-stars know what they do is important. + INTEGRITY: Our definition is “saying what you will do and then doing it!” We keep our promises to our customers and our employees. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** + Perform welding and electrical repair of trash containers and compactors. + Perform sanding and painting of trash containers. + Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards. + Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times. + Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks. **WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:** + Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required objects over 50 pounds. + Work environment may be indoors in a shop, or outdoors to repair containers in the yard. Usually, well-lighted and ventilated. Sometimes it is necessary to work in awkward or tight positions and to handle greasy or dirty tools. These factors require following basic safety precautions. **MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:** + Must be able to pass (i.e., testing negative on) a pre-employment drug screening. + High school diploma or equivalent preferred. + Respirator fit test required. + Minimum 1 year of experience in Stick and MIG welding. + Experience in PLC's and electrical + Fabrication experience a _plus_ ! \#INWCE Pay for this role starts $34-$36: depending on relevant experience The typical schedule is Monday-Friday, occasional Saturdays as needed.
