About this opportunity:
This position is responsible for Planning, developing, maintaining and supporting activities to build and enhance The Salvation Army image and ministries within the community. Develops and maintains a marketing plan. Coordinates resources and personnel for fundraising special events and activities. Assists the Corps Officer in cultivating and developing fruitful relationships with corporations, churches, civic groups, and other public entities. Recruits, trains, coordinates, and directs volunteers.
Key responsibilities:
Develops and cultivates relationships with the public, foundations, local churches and schools, civic organizations, youth agencies and clubs for education and support of new and existing programs; public contact and public speaking to bring awareness and to garner support for the ministries and services of The Salvation Army. Cultivates relationships to procure gifts-in-kind support; initiates and maintains community partnerships with local corporations and area businesses. Develops corporate gifts and sponsorships for special programs and projects. Coordinates Mission Partner Tours; invites community leaders, donors and civic-minded guests to events. Coordinates resources and volunteer personnel to implement year-round fundraising efforts including manning Christmas kettles and Angel Tree Toys projects. Recruits, plans, schedules and assigns volunteer staff to program coordinators; instructs volunteers in proper methods and procedures. Evaluates volunteer performance through interviews with program coordinators and volunteers.What we are looking for in you:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related Business field AND Three years progressively responsible experience in public relations developing and coordinating special events and media relations OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
