Community Health Worker - #Staff
We are seeking a **_Community Health Worker_** who will support Healthcare on The Spot, a low-barrier, integrated mobile health program that provides healthcare in communities across Baltimore City affected by the opioid epidemic. Services include STD, HIV, and hepatitis C testing and linkage-to-care; wound care; evaluation and treatment of opioid use disorder with Buprenorphine; syringe services, vaccine administration, and case management. The position performs a variety of tasks to support the operations and provision of health delivery for the program. **Specific Duties and Responsibilities** + Establish trusting relationships with patients and provide general support and encouragement. + Serve as driver for the mobile clinic (only standard driver’s license required), and maintain general maintenance for vehicles, including coordinating with subcontractors for any mechanical issues. + Register patients for services using the electronic medical record. + Conduct insurance eligibility determination, enrollment, and follow-up for uninsured patients. + Assist with testing and counseling for HIV, HCV, and other STDs, including rapid testing and phlebotomy. + Develop relationships with community resources, including recovery centers, and assist with referrals. + Assist with referrals to support social drives of health, including transportation, social services, food, and housing. + Track non-medical supply inventory and managing the program’s storage units. + Other duties as assigned. _Skills_ + Be able to work as a part of a diverse team of service and medical staff for a diverse population. + Have good interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport and express empathy. + Be willing to interact with the public, health care providers, community organizations, and social service agencies. **Minimum Qualifications** + High School Diploma or equivalent. + Two years of related experience. + Have a current valid Maryland driver’s license. + Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. **Preferred Qualifications** + Interest in HIV, HCV, and substance use disorders, and working with vulnerable populations. + Familiarity with and appreciation of a harm reduction framework. + Willingness to become a Certified Recovery Specialist – persons in recovery are encouraged to apply. + Experience with Epic.
