Under general direction from the Community Health Needs Assessment and Community Benefit Manager, support and manage the collection and reporting of community benefit programming information on behalf of the Corewell Health system. This includes serving as the point person for insight, guidance, and expertise for community benefit classification, education, data collection, and reporting. In this role the Community Benefit Operations Specialist will collaborate with tax and finance to ensure comprehensive community benefit tracking and reporting annually in alignment with the appropriate federal and state regulations. The Community Benefit Operations Specialist will work with the Health Equity Evaluation, Assessment, and Analytics Team (HEEAAT) to support the evaluation of health equity efforts at Corewell Health by providing analysis of community benefit program spending end effectiveness. This role will also be responsible for analyzing the health care environment to identify and lead opportunities for the advancement of community benefit. Lastly, this role will work closely with other members of the HEEAAT team on Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) activities, helping to ensure that community benefit activities and identified CHNA findings are in alignment.
Essential FunctionsEstablish and implement standardized processes for the reporting of community benefit occurrences across the enterprise.Provide analysis and reporting of community benefit programming to senior leaders at the enterprise, regional, and hospital levels.Develop and implement education and training for reporters and team members across the enterprise on community benefit and its importance to Corewell Health.Maintain a holistic understanding of community benefit eligibility, including reimbursement reporting, subsidized services, and health professional education, along with clinical and community health programming.Manage and monitor the Community Benefit Inventory for Social Accountability (CBISA) system to ensure it is operational and being used effectively to support Corewell Health’s goals.Leveraging expertise in IRS Form 990 reporting to collaborate with finance and tax on ensuring community benefits are reported in a timely and accurate manner.Conduct an analysis of community benefit for the HEEAAT team as part of the evaluation of health equity at Corewell Health.Review submissions of community benefit data from across the enterprise for accuracy and quality.Continually assess the community benefit infrastructure in an effort to improve the processes and practices at Corewell Health.Support the transformation of community benefits into a tool for advancing health equity and community health across the Corewell Health service area by creating and maintaining a community benefit communication plan for external stakeholders as well as internal partners such as governance and hospital leadership.Contributes to the development and execution of data-informed initiatives to enhance and improve the health of targeted populations as identified in the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) and other sources.Leverages and supports community benefit expenditures and CHNA Implementation Strategies to align with the organization’s strategic priorities.QualificationsRequired
