Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: The Communications Officer will: + Answer calls and requests from officers, emergency personnel, and the public. + Gather information from complaints or incidents, decide what action is needed, and quickly notify or dispatch officers. + Enter, update, and manage records in law enforcement databases (such as vehicle registrations, licenses, stolen property, or missing persons). + Keep accurate logs, reports, and records of daily communications and activities. + Update and maintain the Public Crime Log regularly. + Monitor security cameras (CCTV) and send officers when suspicious or criminal activity is observed. Position-Specific Details: Location and Work Schedule: T his position is for a Communications Officer in University Police. This position reports to the Police Lieutenant and will serve as a dispatcher. This position requires a commitment to a 12-hour rotating shift schedule to provide 24/7 operational coverage. The schedule will alternate between day and night shifts, and employees will be required to work weekends and holidays as part of the normal rotation. We offer a structured rotation that provides regular breaks and consecutive days off to help balance the demands of the schedule. This position may be subject to overtime and is considered non-exempt under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
