Citizens is seeking a proactive, strategic communications professional to join our Executive Communications team. The successful candidate will develop and execute integrated communications plans and messaging strategies to support Citizens executive leadership. This is a highly visible role, ideal for a creative individual with exceptional critical thinking, stakeholder management skills, and a strong understanding of how corporate communications drives brand reputation.
This professional will play a pivotal role in advancing the bank’s enterprise narrative to position Citizens as a leading super-regional bank with a team of forward-looking leaders. Reporting to the Head of Executive Communications, this role will be instrumental in driving executive visibility through impactful internal and external storytelling.
Primary responsibilities include:
+ Executive Thought Leadership
+ Design and execute integrated CEO thought leadership campaigns that align with business goals and shape brand perception.
+ Develop high-impact content, including external speaking engagements, community relations, social media content and internal messaging.
+ Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with Marketing, Events & Public Affairs teams to drive programming reach and impact.
+ Media Relations
+ Support CEO and other executive media relations efforts, nationally and across key markets, to secure strategic placements that advance key messages.
+ Collaborate with social media teams to amplify reach.
+ Internal & Senior Leader Communications
+ Establish and execute internal programming to drive broad colleague alignment around corporate strategy and growth initiatives.
+ Support senior leadership initiatives and meetings that influence key stakeholders and successfully position corporate strategy and priorities consistently across channels.
+ Develop and maintain strong cross-functional relationships, ensuring effective communication and strategy alignment.
Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials
+ Demonstrated expertise in corporate communications or public relations, developing and executing communications strategies across internal and external channels in an in-house or PR agency setting.
+ Strong ability to craft compelling messaging and translate complex financial topics into clear, engaging content.
+ Proficiency in media relations, including pitching, securing and tracking coverage, and managing interviews and events.
+ Highly strategic and proactive mindset with strong critical thinking skills.
+ Experience in executive communications, including speechwriting and presentation development.
+ Entrepreneurial spirit with strong project management and organizational skills required, including the ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
+ Exceptional writing and editing abilities, eye for detail, and written and verbal communication skills.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field required.
Hours & Work Schedule
+ Hours per Week: 40
+ Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 4 days in office, 1 day remote
