The Opportunity

At Valvoline Instant Oil Change, all roads lead to opportunity. We believe great journeys begin with great people. That’s why we’re looking for a Communications Lead to join our Corporate Communications team supporting our retail service centers and franchisees.

The Communications Lead is a strategic and hands-on leader who designs communication systems that reach Valvoline’s deskless workforce and deliver meaningful value to franchisees. This role goes beyond content creation-it’s about architecting how information flows across a fast-paced, distributed organization to drive clarity, alignment, and engagement. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about storytelling, culture-building, and reaching employees where they are. If you’ve worked in retail or an industry with a deskless workforce, you’ll bring valuable perspective to how we connect with our teams.

The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver and proactive go-getter who thrives in complexity, manages competing priorities with grace, and brings fresh ideas to how we connect with store technicians and franchisees. Success requires cross-functional collaboration, a bias for action, and a deep understanding of how to tailor messaging across digital, print, and face-to-face channels.


How You'll Make a Difference

Design and lead strategic communication plans that engage store technicians and franchisees-tailoring messaging to resonate across diverse formats and environments.Champion culture-building initiatives by crafting narratives and experiences that reinforce Valvoline Inc.’s values, celebrate employee contributions, and foster connection across locations.Innovate communication channels and tactics to reach deskless employees creatively and effectively-leveraging mobile platforms, peer-to-peer storytelling, and in-store activations.Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Operations, and Franchise teams to align messaging with business priorities, employee programs, and leadership visibility.Manage editorial planning and cadence across internal platforms, ensuring timely, relevant, and audience-specific communication. Advise leaders and partners on message strategy, tone, and timing-drawing on employee insights and stakeholder feedback.Measure impact and continuously improve by analyzing engagement metrics, conducting surveys, and applying listening tools to refine communication strategies.Write and edit high-quality communications, including announcements, presentations, newsletters, and intranet content-always with clarity, empathy, and purpose.Balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating agility, initiative, and a strong sense of ownership.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Education: Bachelor's degree or higher, ideally with a focus in communications or business. Work Experience: Minimum five years of relevant experience in corporate / internal communications.  Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.Prior experience in retail or industries with a deskless workforce is highly valued.Experience working with digital and mobile communications platforms; familiarity with intranet systems like SharePoint is a plus.Demonstrated ability to set KPIs and metrics for communications initiatives-and a track record of exceeding them.Creative and original thinker who brings fresh ideas to how information is shared and stories are told.Self-starter with a growth mindset-eager to learn, take initiative, and contribute meaningfully from day one.Emotionally intelligent and adaptable-able to navigate ambiguity, build relationships, and respond thoughtfully to feedback.Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.Collaborative and curious, with a passion for building culture and engaging employees.Bonus: experience in Canva, video creation, and visual storytelling.Bonus: experience working with global or North American workforces.
