The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), a NCAA single-sport Division I men’s ice hockey conference that has nine members, is seeking qualified applicants who recently graduated from college for a part-time internship position for the 2025-26 season.The position will start on Tuesday September 2, 2025 and end on Friday May 22, 2026. This is a remote position with the exception of the conference championship, where travel will be necessary. The position will work 15-20 hours per week and is eligible for a monthly stipend and academic credit.
The CCHA Communications & Digital Content Intern will report directly to the Director of Strategic Communications & Brand Advancement and the Commissioner.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with updating web pages and content on the CCHA’s website (www.CCHA.com) and digital content to several locations, including Midco Sports Plus • Assist with content creation and posting content on social media • Assist with creating and distributing marketing/promotional opportunities and materials across all CCHA platforms • Attend and work at the 2026 Mason Cup Championship Game • Other duties as assigned by the Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner
Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, sports administration, graphic design, marketing, or a similar field • Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills • Ability to work both independently with deadline-driven projects and as part of a team in a small remote office setting • Demonstrated ability to work with social media platforms, such as YouTube, X, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat • Ability to work Friday and Saturday nights during the season as needed and directed by conference staff Preferred Qualifications: • Two years of experience as an undergraduate student working within a college athletics department (athletic communications or marketing) or conference office • Familiarity in working with media platforms such as DVSport, WSC, and Sidearm Sports • Familiarity in working with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign and/or Photoshop • Familiarity in creating GIFs and short videos for social media • Familiarity with the CCHA, its nine member institutions and NCAA hockey as a whole

There have been seven CCHA teams that have won the NCAA National Championship, consisting of Bowling Green State (1984), Michigan State (1986), Lake Superior State (1988, 1992, 1994) and Michigan (1996 & 1998). The CCHA is led by Commissioner Don Lucia, one of the most successful coaches in college hockey history. Lucia's head coaching tenure included stints at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Colorado College, and the University of Minnesota where he was the Golden Gophers' winningest coach in program history. At the helm of the Golden Gophers bench, Lucia won two national championships (2002 and 2003) while appearing in five NCAA Frozen Four tournaments. He also led his CC Tigers to an NCAA runner-up finish in 1996 and an appearance in the 1997 NCAA Frozen Four semifinals.
