Communication & Visibility Trainee

We provide management support to international institutions, such as the European Commission (EC), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and EU bilateral donors. We are currently seeking to recruit a full-time Business Development Manager (BDM) to enhance our Business Development Team and to join our international and dynamic Belgian unit. Location preferably in Belgium. Italy, Netherlands & Turkey are explorable options. Job purpose We are looking more than a bid manager. We look for an experience professional with an excellent knowledge of the donor-funded market with a focus on the European Commission and able to contribute to the strategic positioning of the company. We like professional with visions and ideas to offer quality services and differentiate Stantec. The Business Development Manager is also responsible for creating successful bids and overseeing the whole tendering process taking especially into account the business environment, the expectations and needs of the client and beneficiaries in order to win the tender. More than just a coordinator, you will be an active contributor of the proposal content and will have a real ownership and autonomy in your work. Responsibilities • Identify and investigate new business opportunities, capture and gather information, realize assessment studies. • Contribute to the strategic development of a sector or a client segment. • Follow-up a portfolio of projects at various stages of maturity in Stantec’s fields (energy, environment, climate change) within and outside the European Union, in the context of programmes financed by international financial institutions such as EC, EIB, AfDB. • Prepare tender proposals in selected sector area, responding to the cost and technical criteria’s, design the technical offers (including the identification and selection of the suitable experts) and anticipate budgets. • Establish partnerships/consortium arrangements. • Ensure Stantec’s full quality control process is carried out for all proposals and compliance is met (Stantec and client). • Take ownership in the management of the whole tendering cycle and coordinate the bid team in a collegial way to deliver attractive bids responding to the client’s needs and in line with Stantec’s Business Development process requirements. In addition, the Business Development Manager will contribute to project implementation in the form of: • “Direct” technical work, conducted in the capacity of short-term expert for technical assistance projects managed by Stantec, with the aim of maintaining and further develop his/her technical skills and other competences. • Quality control work, through the review of specific outputs produced by Stantec’s experts engaged in various projects. • Technical advisory work, involving the briefing of and/or provision of technical support to experts engaged in various projects. Job purpose The trainee in Communication and Visibility will be part of the Center of Expertise in Communications. She/he will be involved in supporting the implementation of the communication activities covered by different contracts. Responsibilities -Support the implementation of projects and business development activities: Sub-activities may include, among others: -Mapping of media outlets, stakeholder organizations/multipliers and influencers within the framework of European projects/campaigns - Managing databases - Ensuring the drafting, set-up and sending of mailings and surveys via dedicated tools - Developing and maintaining lines of communication with media outlets, stakeholder organisations/multipliers and influencers - Implementing legal requirements while implementing PR activities (GDPR, IPR) - Monitoring and encoding outreach activities and project/campaign pick up - Analysis, reporting and presentation of results in dedicated reports and presentations - Desk research - Monitoring of EU Opportunities - Support to drafting of new tenders related to communication activities - Research on local providers and experts - Review of CVs - Drafting and proofreading of methodology What do we offer: - A traineeship in an international team based in La Hulpe (Belgium), with very good personal and professional development prospects. - Opportunities to regularly update and enhance technical skills and qualifications and other professional competences, through: (i) support of the implementation of very diverse projects; (ii) participation in training and other capacity building activities (iii) team building activities organised by the Development Professional Group composed of young office members. **Preferred Specifications:** Applicants should as a minimum have the following qualifications and demonstrate the following skills: - University degree in a relevant discipline; Master’s degree will be a significant advantage. - Relevant first experience in managing and organising communication activities for communications projects on behalf of EU institutions or clients in a communication agency setting. - Good storytelling and pitching skills - At ease with Microsoft Office Suite, mailing and survey tools - Willingness in acquiring new skills and undertaking new tasks - Fluent knowledge of English (any other language will be considered an asset) - Proactive and can-do attitude - Quick learner, receptive to new information and assignments - Keep up with tight deadlines, close follow-up of day-to-day tasks and aim to deliver on time - Interest in understanding EU requirements as regards to communication & information activities.. - Good communication skills and demonstrated experience in facilitating dialogue and communication. **About Stantec:** We’re active members of the communities we serve.
