**Your role and responsibilities**
The India System design team is responsible to own and deliver System design milestones for IBM POWER and IBM Z mainframe platforms. The team collaborates with Global System design & development teams and stakeholders. As a Commodity Quality Manager, the candidate must have experience with hardware commodities and the metrics for measuring quality. They need to read and understand data from a variety of sources such as manufacturing failures, field failures, and field replacements. They also need to read problem reports and make an accurate estimation of the cause of failure for categorization purposes.
The candidate will also be responsible to drive failure analysis activities as they relate to IBM field failures. The CQM will work with Product Engineering (PE) teams for any hardware failure seen at an IBM client, track the return of the failing hardware back to IBM, work closely with the owning hardware design team, drive the root cause analysis of the failure and report back to the PE team on future corrective actions for the client and how IBM hardware may be changed to prevent the failure at other IBM client locations.
Responsibilities
As CQM, the responsibilities include
· Tracking hardware failures from clients to IBM via Jupiter tracking system and other Quality Management Dashboards and applications.
· Analyse failure trends from call home data as it relates to potential issues at client locations.
· Work closely with manufacturing on failures seen inside of IBM and work to reduce internal quality issues.
· Ability to develop queries in various databases for trend analysis.
**Required technical and professional expertise**
· Around 8-12 years of total experience as Quality Manager
· A minimum of 5 years of experience in product development, product procurement, or manufacturing processes.
· The candidate should have a background in database structure and queries
· Bachelor of Science or master's in mechanical or electrical engineering
**Preferred technical and professional experience**
· Familiarity with server design and architecture.
· Lab experience with mechanical and electronic cards, vendor management skills, leadership skills, time management skills, people skills, project management skills, data analysis, DB
· Ability to effectively work independently with limited guidance.
