**BASIC FUNCTION:**
The Commodity Lead will drive supply chain commodity strategies that (1) maximizes customer satisfaction through world class on time delivery, lead time and quality metrics, (2) reduces inventory and (3) delivers the lowest total cost. The role is responsible for collecting, aggregating, analyzing, and archiving supply chain data for supporting supply chain initiatives. These activities include but are not limited to purchase order analysis, supplier performance management, corporate reporting, spend analysis, commodity analysis and other ad-hoc department analysis.
**RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:**
+ Develop and lead the execution of global commodity strategies for assigned commodities that supports Crane Pumps and Systems objectives for supplier OTD, inventory reduction, supplier quality, supplier lead times and material cost reduction. This would include actions to rationalize the supply base, improve supplier relationships, implement supplier agreements, drive increased sourcing from low-cost sources, and reduce the administrative cost of the supply chain function.
+ Maintain awareness of world markets and emerging material related issues in the industry and execute commodity strategies to respond accordingly.
+ Drive continuous improvement in suppliers by communicating objective performance metrics, focused on on-time delivery improvement, quality improvement, and cost reduction.
+ Provide effective support to new product introduction teams.
+ Prepare and send RFQ/RFIs for sourcing related projects.
+ Perform financial analysis of RFQ results to determine overall cost competitiveness.
+ Assist Operations in improving supplier recoveries related to non-conforming materials and late deliveries.
+ Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with program management, contracts administration, production planning, customers and suppliers.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:**
+ Minimum of 3 years experience in a supply chain role or equivalent education. This could include strategic or as a tactical Buyer/Planner. Bachelors degree in business or technical preferred.
+ Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships and influence up, down, and across organizational lines.
+ Excellent teamwork and communications with suppliers, customers, customer service and associates.
+ Excellent analytical, problem solving/decision making skills; ability to make timely, effective, fact based decisions.
+ Knowledge of Microsoft office suite software (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, MS project, etc.).
