Western Psychiatric Hospital is in search of a Commitment Specialist to help coordinate the involuntary commitment process for patients across multiple units within the hospital. Responsibilities:

Admission Tracking

Monitor and verify accuracy of all inpatient service admissions. Track admissions to assigned inpatient units for accuracy.

Legal Documentation & Compliance

Complete voluntary consent forms and involuntary petitions per regulatory standards. Log and file involuntary commitment petition extensions on time. Review court orders for commitment accuracy and report discrepancies.

Support & Communication

Serve as a resource for clinical staff on involuntary commitment procedures and relevant regulations (e.g., PA Mental Health Procedures Act). Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold rights during the hearing and commitment process. Communicate with the Coordinator, attending psychiatrist, and charge nurse regarding issues that may affect a patient’s legal status or hospitalization.
