Role Overview
Participates in safety program and audits. Performs detailed system quality control inspections for completeness of installation vs. install manuals, engineering specifications, and drawings, maintaining a detailed punch-list. Conducts system walkdowns for mechanical completion prior to turnover or energization. Creates and manages energization plans. Oversees the EPC and OEM commissioning procedures, status, and compliance. Assists in troubleshooting commissioning anomalies as the primary SME owner’s representative. Prepares and reviews project closeout and testing documents. Reports daily, weekly, and monthly on progress, indicators, and recovery plans to upper management. Interfaces with project's designated management committees or third parties, acting as lead Company representative of project activities. Manages third-party substation testing. Oversees substation energization. Manages ISO/GIA/PPA commissioning process. Reviews all Purchase Power Agreement and Interconnect Agreements to develop guidelines for performance testing. Interfaces with Engineering, Commissioning, and Business Management personnel to align on testing requirements. Develops a complete testing plan for assigned projects to ensure all deliverables across all relevant contractual documentation are met. Schedules and leads alignment meetings leading up to and during performance testing periods to ensure all required support parties are aligned and the test is executed in an organized manner. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Overall responsibility for test administration, data analysis, and final reporting.Skills & Qualifications
Thorough understanding of Utility Scale Solar projects. Management of substation testing and startup. Interconnect coordination for commissioning activities (Transmission Operators, PPA, ISO). Protection and Controls implementation and troubleshooting preferred. Understanding of Inverters, Trackers, Weather stations, SCADA, transformers, combiners. Good communication skills and highly organized. Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams. Experience in hiring and developing commissioning managers. Thorough understanding of DC systems (0-2,000Vdc) and AC systems (480V-34.5kV). Familiarity with troubleshooting electronic equipment (protection relays, inverters, RTUs, etc.). Experience with control and SCADA systems and troubleshooting. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong communication skills for reporting to executives and third parties. Understanding of scheduling and planning. Knowledge of Electrical Code, means, and methods.Education & Experience
