Senior Commissioning EngineerYour role and responsibilities:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as commissioning lead for projects with low to medium complexity. Each day, you will ensure completion of all commissioning activities efficiently and cost-effectively in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and cybersecurity policies and standards. You will also showcase your skills by supporting continuous improvement of project process/product/system design.

This role is contributing to: Process automation for process industry projects in India.
Main stakeholders include: Project Managers, Engineering & Design Teams, Site Managers, Subcontractors, and Customers.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Managing end-to-end Electrical testing and commissioning activities to ensure quality, timely delivery, and adherence to targeted costs, including implementing design changes during commissioning and preparing accurate as-built project documentation.
Executing Routine, Acceptance, and Type Tests in compliance with relevant IEC / IS / DGMS standards; validating materials, approving test results, applying advanced testing methods, and preparing detailed project test documentation.
Providing technical support during the installation of test objects in the test area; assessing risk to ensure safe systems of work and taking necessary actions; reporting any contract, quality, program, or cost issues with recommendations for resolution.
Acting as the Person in Charge of Work (PICW)—issuing and receiving Permits to Work (PTW) to/from testing teams and contractors, ensuring strict adherence to ABB's safety procedures including Activity-Based Risk Assessments (ABRA), RAMS, and the ABB 7-Step Safety Protocol.
Creating detailed work plans and cost estimates; managing the implementation of the Electrical commissioning plan; improving work effectiveness in collaboration with other functions; reviewing subcontractor invoices and submitting accurate billing for customer certification.
Conducting risk and opportunity assessments during the commissioning phase, identifying and reporting risks related to contract, quality, cost, or schedule; initiating and monitoring mitigation plans, and conducting regular Safety Observation Tours to systematically address HSE hazards.
Managing external organizations and vendors to ensure the availability of Electrical commissioning equipment, systems, and services; providing technical guidance to ensure all tools and systems meet specifications; identifying and resolving short-supplied or defective material issues.
Managing and coordinating Electrical commissioning activities focused on customer acceptance, including attending project and customer meetings, conducting inspections, resolving technical queries, closing open issues, supporting performance tests, and introducing effective engineering solutions that meet business and customer needs.
Qualifications for the role:
Minimum B.E. / B.Tech. / Diploma in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering with First Class from a reputed university.
6–10 years of practical experience in testing, trouble-shooting, and commissioning of Switchyard Equipment (33kV – 220kV) including Power Transformers with RTCC & OLTC, Overhead Conductors / IPS Tubes, BPI & DISC Insulators, Circuit Breakers, CTs, PTs, Isolators, Lightning Arrestors, and Control & Relay Panels with various protection schemes.
Proficient in configuration and parameterization of IEDs (Numerical Protection Relays) and skilled in SCADA interfacing for switchgear control and monitoring.
Trained on HV & MV GIS Switchgears with sound working knowledge of Medium Voltage Switchgear (33kV, 11kV, 6.6kV) and Low Voltage Switchgear (690V, 415V, 380V, 240V – PCC, PMCC, MCC, IMCC).
Experienced in Power System Fault Analysis and Energy Management Systems, ensuring reliable system protection and efficiency.
Well-versed in commissioning of Distribution and Converter Duty Transformers (both Oil Cooled and Dry Type), Battery Systems and Chargers (up to 220V DC), and associated control equipment such as DCDB, ACDB, PDB, and LDB.
Practical experience with commissioning of Neutral Grounding Resistors (NGRs), MV & LV Motors, MV/LV Cables, MV/LV Capacitor Banks / APFC Panels, and motor starting equipment including Liquid Rotor Starters and Soft Starters.
Familiar with Universal Motor Controllers and capable of proficiently executing and validating complete electrical systems as per project requirements.
