Commissioning and Start up Engineer
Position Overview

The CSU Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring equipment availability and reliability across all upstream assets. This includes well sites, above-ground infrastructure, compression facilities, and control systems. The role demands a high level of commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence, supporting the commissioning and start-up phases of projects.

Key Responsibilities Commissioning & Execution Act as the senior site representative in the absence of the CSU Superintendent. Prepare and maintain commissioning procedures and documentation. Schedule, track, and report commissioning progress. Ensure compliance with Shell standards and project-specific commissioning requirements. Coordinate commissioning activities across Construction, Engineering, and Scheduling teams. Provide input into facility design to support safe and efficient commissioning. Safety & Compliance Promote and uphold a robust HSSE and Quality culture. Ensure adherence to company safety policies and procedures. Participate in HAZOPs and documentation reviews. Support the development and implementation of a Commissioning Audit Program. Observe and monitor contractor activities to ensure safety and compliance. Operational Readiness Liaise with Production Operations to ensure a smooth transition at facility start-up. Provide commissioning input into integrated project schedules. Support major maintenance activities including shutdowns and well interventions. Assist in design change implementation and continuous improvement initiatives. Team & Resource Management Support mechanical technicians and ensure training aligns with Shell standards. Develop, verify, and authorize permits and isolations within scope. Align team performance goals with CSU Superintendent expectations. Efficiently manage personal time and resources to meet project milestones. Qualifications & Experience Engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commissioning or related engineering roles. Preferred background in Oil & Gas and control systems. Multidisciplinary understanding required, particularly in process and mechanical engineering. Strong understanding of upstream asset operations and control systems. Demonstrated fault-finding and troubleshooting capabilities. Familiarity with Shell standards and operational procedures is advantageous. Key Competencies Strong leadership and communication skills. High attention to detail and commitment to safety. Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic environment. Proficiency in commissioning software and documentation tools.
