We are seeking a motivated and passionate Commis – Pastry/Bakery to join our pastry kitchen team. In this entry-level role, you will assist in the preparation of a variety of baked goods, pastries, and desserts under the guidance of senior pastry chefs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills in a professional pastry and bakery environment. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY: + Assist in the preparation of pastries, bread, cakes, cookies, and other baked goods according to established recipes and guidelines. + Support senior chefs with mise-en-place and daily production tasks. + Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry and bakery workstation. + Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients and finished products. + Follow hygiene and food safety standards at all times (HACCP or equivalent). + Operate bakery equipment (mixers, ovens, dough sheeters, etc.) safely and effectively under supervision. + Participate in the setup and breakdown of the pastry section for service. + Learn and apply pastry techniques, processes, and presentation styles as instructed by senior chefs. + Minimize waste and maintain quality control in all preparations. + Assist in stock control by informing senior chefs of low inventory or expired items. WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU: + High school diploma or equivalent required. + Culinary diploma or certification in Baking & Pastry from a recognized institution is preferred. + Previous experience or internship in a pastry/bakery environment is an advantage. + Basic understanding of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment. + Willingness to learn and take direction. + Good communication skills and a strong sense of teamwork. + Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment. + Flexible with working hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
