Duties and responsibilities related to the Commis Chef role

·Prepare and present high-quality dishes across a variety of culinary outlets, ensuring consistency and attention to detail.

·Support food preparation and service in The Montagu Kitchen, Events, Room Service, Colleague Restaurant, and Churchill Bar.

·Maintain excellent food hygiene, health and safety, and sanitation standards at all times.

·Follow recipes, preparation methods, and presentation standards to ensure quality and consistency.

·Monitor stock levels, assist with stock rotation, and help minimise food waste.

·Work collaboratively with chefs and colleagues across the culinary team to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

·Demonstrate knowledge of seasonal ingredients and contribute ideas for menu development and service improvements.

·Ensure all kitchen equipment and utensils are used, cleaned, and maintained correctly in line with operational standards.

About you

We are looking for a passionate and motivated culinary professional who takes pride in delivering high-quality food and exceptional guest experiences. Previous experience in a professional kitchen environment is highly desirable, ideally within a hotel or hospitality setting. The successful candidate will have strong organisational skills, a positive attitude, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. A good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards is essential, along with a willingness to learn and develop across multiple culinary outlets.
