Job Description

Oaks Queenstown Shores Resort are looking for a passionate and motivated Commis Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.

This role is essential in supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen, assisting with the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes, and helping deliver an exceptional dining experience for guests.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Assist with the preparation and presentation of dishes across all sections of the kitchen.Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service and smooth operations.Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards.Take initiative to develop culinary skills and grow within a professional kitchen environment.Support and coach less experienced kitchen team members when required.

Shift Details (subject to change):

Full time positionAM and PM shiftsSplit shifts may be required on some daysCurrently, we are only accepting applications from candidates who have working rights within New Zealand.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

Relevant cookery qualification (or international equivalent) and previous experience in a similar role.Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen environment.Flexibility to work across a range of shifts, including weekends and public holidays.Self-motivated and able to work independently when required.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
