As a commis chef specializing in Indian tandoor cuisine, you will support the culinary team in preparing authentic North Indian dishes, particularly those cooked in the tandoor oven. You'll ensure high standards of hygiene, taste, and presentation while working under the guidance of senior chefs.
Key responsibilities: Prepare and cook tandoor items such as naan, kebabs, tikkas, and other Indian specialties. Assist in mise en place and daily food preparation for the Indian section. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the tandoor station and kitchen area. Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are consistently followed. Support senior chefs in menu development and special promotions. Monitor inventory and report shortages of ingredients or equipment. Uphold Hyatt's brand standards and contribute to a positive guest experience. Qualifications: Previous experience in Indian cuisine, especially tandoor cooking, in a hotel or restaurant setting. Basic culinary education or vocational training preferred. Familiarity with traditional Indian spices, marinades, and cooking techniques. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions accurately. Good communication and teamwork skills. Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
