Join the Team at Oaks Mackay Rivermarque Hotel – Part Time Commis Chef

Oaks Mackay Rivermarque Hotel, an iconic property located in the heart of Mackay, is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part Time Commis Chef to join our small and busy kitchen. This role will primarily work Breakfast shifts (6am - 9.30am Mon - Fri & 7.30am - 10.30am Sat & Sun), with potential for further dinner shifts as well. 

As a Commis Chef, you’ll play a key role in supporting the daily kitchen operations across our Restaurant and Conferences & Events. You’ll work closely with our talented team and report directly to the Restaurant Manager, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced, professional environment.

What You'll Do:

Assist in the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes.Support service across multiple outlets including the restaurant, event spaces, and in-room dining.Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are consistently maintained.Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to deliver a seamless guest experience.

Hourly Rates (excluding super):

Monday - Friday: $27.17 per hour 

Saturday: $33.96 per hour

Sunday: $40.76 per hour

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need to:

Hold relevant Certificate III cookery qualifications and previous experience in a similar role.Have knowledge about Modern Australian CuisineHave knowledge and understanding of HACCP and OH&SBe flexible to work a range of different shifts, including weekends.Be able to work under pressure within a dynamic team environment.Be able to coach and motivate less experienced members of the kitchen team.Be self-motivated and able to work without supervision.Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to work across a flexible roster including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
