Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future. 

 

Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.

 

We currently have an opportunity for a Commercial Support Officer to support the delivery of advanced Tactical Data Link capabilities within the Joint Force by leading commercial and procurement activities for a high-impact Defence project based in Canberra.

 

What You’ll Do 

This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:

Manage complex ASDEFCON contracts and lead negotiations with prime contractors.Drive procurement strategies and develop key documentation for major acquisitions.Provide expert commercial advice and ensure compliance with Defence policy.Coordinate contract meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement.Mentor APS commercial staff and contribute to team capability development.

What You’ll Bring 

Proven experience in Defence procurement and contract management.Strong understanding of ASDEFCON templates and Commonwealth procurement rules.Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.Formal qualifications in contracting/procurement (Cert IV or higher).Desirable: Experience in Defence projects and knowledge of TDL technologies.Currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth.In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may be an inherent requirement.
