Commercial Support Manager

As a Commercial Support Manager you will drive operational efficiency across our network of decorating centre stores. In this role, you will focus on optimising processes, enhancing stock placement and management, and supporting store teams in maximising productivity. A key responsibility will also include using the safety culture software to conduct regular audits and improve compliance across all areas in-store, ensuring a safe and effective environment for both staff and customers.

1. EHS Audits & Compliance
• Conduct regular Environmental, Health, and Safety audits in line with PPG requirements, covering vans, store standards, and power lifting equipment to ensure correct and safe usage by store teams.
• Utilise safety culture tools to monitor and improve compliance across all operational areas.
• Educate store teams on compliance standards and best practices to enhance safety, reduce risks, and improve operational consistency.
2. Operational Efficiency & Productivity
• Identify and implement best practices to streamline store operations, reducing time spent on non-customer-facing activities.
• Develop resources and training that improve workflow and simplify daily tasks, enabling store teams to focus more on customer service.
• Continuously assess operational processes to identify and address productivity barriers.
3. Stock Placement & Inventory Management
• Optimise stock placement in stores to ensure easy access, efficient replenishment, and alignment with customer demand patterns.
• Implement effective stock management strategies to minimise excess inventory and maximise availability for high-demand items.
• Assist in local and national stock complexity reduction plans by working collaboratively with store teams and management.
• Work with store managers to ensure accurate stock control practices, including routine stock checks, to reduce shrinkage and stock loss.
4. Loss Prevention, Compliance & Safety Audits
• Use safety culture software to conduct regular audits, identifying any compliance gaps and implementing corrective measures promptly.
• Reinforce loss prevention strategies, including secure storage, transaction controls, and regular audits.
• Educate and support store teams on compliance standards and best practices to prevent stock loss and improve safety measures.
• Monitor inventory discrepancies and work with store managers to address issues effectively.
5. Store Support & Communication
• Serve as a key point of contact between central support teams and store managers to ensure initiatives are understood and implemented effectively.
• Provide training, guidance, and resources to support the operational needs of each store.
• Collect feedback from stores to identify areas for improvement and adapt support strategies accordingly.
• Support Store Managers to provide timely resolutions to local maintenance and property requirements.
6. Data Analysis & Reporting
• Analyse data to monitor inventory levels, operational efficiency, stock loss, and safety audit trends, producing reports to track key performance indicators.
• Use data insights to inform decisions on stock placement, workflow improvements, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to senior management to support continuous operational improvements.
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Collaborate with supply chain, merchandising, marketing and sales teams to ensure alignment on stock availability and placement priorities.
• Partner with regional and area managers to ensure consistency in operational practices across all locations.
• Lead or participate in cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, safety compliance, and overall customer experience.
Key Skills:
• Strong organisational skills with a focus on operational efficiency, stock management, and compliance.
• Analytical mindset with experience in data-driven decision-making.
• Familiarity with safety culture or similar compliance auditing tools.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams and provide clear direction to store teams.
