About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead and manage commercial and contracting processes across a major Defence program. This role will provide expert advice on procurement strategy, contract negotiations, and compliance with Commonwealth policies and frameworks. You will be responsible for supporting tender development and evaluation, managing contract risks, and guiding stakeholders through complex procurement and contracting matters.

Key Responsibilities

Lead commercial and procurement functions, including planning and developing procurement documentation.

Manage contractual, procurement and financial activities, ensuring compliance with Defence and Commonwealth legislation, policy and procedures.

Support tender processes including documentation development and participation in evaluation working groups.

Provide expert advice on procurement strategy, supplier engagement, and sourcing approaches.

Lead and participate in contract negotiations to achieve successful commercial outcomes.

Provide commercial risk management, cost estimation and contract administration support.

Build and maintain strong stakeholder and industry relationships.

About You

Minimum of five years’ experience in a similar commercial management role.

Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Legal, Finance or equivalent, or extensive professional experience.

Proven experience in Defence and Commonwealth Government finance, contracting and procurement policy and practices.

Strong experience in financial planning, pricing, cost estimation, billing, and contract administration.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Proficiency with MS Office, including advanced spreadsheet modelling.

NV1 security clearance (minimum, essential).

Desirable

Familiarity with export controls and ITAR compliance.

Experience supporting procurement strategy formulation and market analysis.

Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in complex Defence project environments.

All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a NV1 Clearance or above should apply.
