About this role

The Commercial Finance Senior Analyst will be a key business partner to the Commercial and Marketing teams in Japan. This role is responsible for driving business performance management across brands, channels, and customers. The successful candidate will drive in-year performance, analysis, and insight generation to support strategic decisions and commercial effectiveness. A strong focus will be placed on measuring the impact and return on investment of commercial and marketing activities and simplifying complex business scenarios into clear recommendations.

This role requires advanced analytical capabilities and the ability to build and utilize tools (dashboards, databases, AI solutions) to manage information and extract actionable insights.

 

You will be responsible for:

Business Performance Management

Drive in-year performance rhythm for brands, channels and key customersCo-Lead customer, channel, brand P&L and performance review cyclesWith FP&A team, coordinate AOP, O&R, and scenario planning at Tier 1 levelMonitor ROI and M&E processes, partner with Marketing to assess A&P efficiencyCo-drive market share analysis and pricing case modelling in coordination with RGM teamProvide decision support for promo execution, investment cases,  innovation planning and changes in RTM.

Analytical Leadership and Tools

Use data-driven models and financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunitiesBuild and maintain dashboards, forecasting models and data pipelinesLeverage AI and automation tools to streamline reporting and analyticsTranslate complex datasets into simple business recommendations and strategic optionsSupport Market and Trade Strategy with scenario simulation and business modeling

Commercial Partnering

Act as a financial business partner to commercial teams across RTM, pricing, and customer managementWork closely with supply chain to align inventory targets with financial goals (SIT)Ensure effective tracking of trade terms and control processes

Governance and Control

Maintain strong controls around trade spend, A&P and pricing compliancePartner with legal entity controllers to ensure integrity of financial data

 

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Academic background in Finance, Economics, Business or related fieldRelevant working experience in commercial finance, FP&A, or business performance rolesStrong understanding of brand/channel/customer P&L managementAdvanced analytical and modelling skills, with experience using Excel, Power BI, and data tools (e.g., SQL, AI-based tools)Experience in FMCG or similar fast-paced industry preferredProficiency in both English & Japanese, or equivalent skills to communicate with both local& global/regional team.Strong communication and presentation skills, plus ability to influence non-finance stakeholdersSelf-starter with high learning agility and problem-solving mindset
