Construction estimator skills and qualifications A successful construction estimator will have the following skills: + Preparing estimates of labor, material costs, general expenses and overheads + Operating computer software programs + Reading and interpreting blueprints, maps, drawings and project specifications + Understanding and being able to advise on the tendering process + Setting up cost monitoring and reporting systems + Maintaining a directory of suppliers and trade contractors + Collaborating with engineers, architects, owners and contractors + Supporting both greenfield and brownfield projects Suitable candidates will have one of the following Qualifications: + Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field + Certification from a recognized professional body, such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) + Trade Journeyman Certificate and 5+ years of experience in construction estimating Other Qualifications and Skills: + 10+ years of previous experience in construction estimating + Proficiency in using industry standard software such as PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, ProEst and Bluebeam Revu + Strong understanding of construction methods and materials + Excellent mathematical and analytical skills + Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings + Strong communication and negotiation skills + Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills + Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines + Familiarity with local building codes and regulations + Strong understanding of construction practices, materials, and cost estimating techniques + Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills + Ability to work independently and as part of a team + Attention to detail and strong analytical skills Top Reasons to join BrightPath Kids USA: + We offer a 60% child care discount to ALL employees so that your family can take advantage of our great learning environment! + All staff are eligible to participate in the 401(k) program which offers a company match – this is free money! + We will support your long-term career goals by offering opportunities for professional development. + Full-time staff accrue paid time off immediately upon hire. + Full-time staff have 8 paid holidays. + Full-time staff are offered health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance and $10,000 of company-paid life and AD&D insurance.
