The position involves operating laboratory equipment safely and efficiently according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Equipment includes two roll mills, dispersion mills, film extrusion, injection molding machines, single and twin screw extruders, spectrophotometers, ash ovens, melt flow indexers, and blenders/mixers. The role also requires comparing customer samples with standard color chips, blending pigments into sample batches, and determining the formula required to duplicate colors accurately.
ResponsibilitiesOperate laboratory equipment such as two roll mills, extrusion machines, and spectrophotometers according to SOP.Compare customer samples with standard color chips to determine necessary formulas for color duplication.Blend pigments into sample batches and compare results with standards.Maintain knowledge of PVC raw materials including pigments, plasticizers, heat stabilizers, and lubricants.Operate single screw, FCM, and twin screw processes for manufacturing color concentrates in various materials like PVC, PE, EVA, and TPU.Utilize injection molding machines for processing and color matching with various PVC compounds.
Essential Skills5 years of experience in color matching.Experience with PVC compounds.Fluency in color matching software for quality control, color formulation, and batch correction.Prior knowledge of DataColor and/or X-rite platforms is preferred.
Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to pass a color test.
