College Assistant - Ph.D. Program in Biochemistry **GENERAL DUTIES** - Under supervision, performs miscellaneous clerical, administrative, research or other work related to the operation of a College or other unit where such work is required on a part-time basis or for a period of limited duration. - There is one Assignment Level for this position. All personnel perform related work. This specification describes typical assignments; related duties may be assigned as needed. - Maximum tenure for any employee in this hourly position is 1040 hours per year. - Performs routine clerical work; may answer and attend to telephone calls; maintain records, operate office machines (such as copier), sort and distribute mail, issue keys and identity cards, act as messenger, and perform related tasks as required. - Types letters, memoranda, charts, and similar materials. - Acts as cashier. - Assists in statistical or research activities. May collect and compile data, code data for computer entry, perform data entry, and run computer reports. - Performs clerical library work, such as sorting and shelving books, performing data entry into library systems, or binding books and periodicals. - Assists in instructional programs, including tutoring and assisting students in areas such as reading and mathematics. Through its public programs, the Graduate Center enhances New York City's intellectual and cultural life. The Ph.D. Program in Biochemistry is seeking a College Assistant. This is a part-time role for approximately 15 hours per week (total of 750 hours until June 30, 2026 and 797 hours per fiscal year thereafter). The College Assistant will provide a myriad of administrative functions: Duties include but are not limited to: -Communicate with students and faculty as necessary -Process incoming and outgoing mail -Update digital platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, google doc, ResearchGate) to publicize and promote program events, students and faculty profiles -Assist with the Program’s Event Logisitics -Capture data and organize program statistics as necessary -Maintain student, faculty and alumni databases -Assist with updating the Program’s webpages using Drupal -Maintain and order office supplies -Perform other duties as assigned. This is a hybrid role, and the incumbent will work on site and remotely. All full-time and part-time CUNY staff are expected to work in-person at their campus office 80% of their work time. This hybrid work schedule is subject to change. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** - Must demonstrate sufficient skills to perform the duties of the assigned tasks. **OTHER QUALIFICATIONS** A preferred candidate should have: -Associate or bachelor’s degree -Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive -Excellent organizational/communication skills; attention to detail -Ability to work independently as well as a team player -Reliable and dependable **COMPENSATION** $20 - $21.88 per hour **BENEFITS** CUNY offers a comprehensive benefits package to employees and eligible dependents based on job title and classification.
