Job Summary

SHIFT: 25hrs per week, Day Shift

Under the direction of the Director of Volunteers and within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures, responsible for assisting the Cooley Dickinson Hospital Auxiliary in the overall management of the CDH Coffee Shop including preparation of food, maintaining supplies, overseeing scheduling and daily supervision of coffee shop volunteers and complying with the Board of Health requirements, state mandates and CDH policies


 

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Serve Safe certified or becomes Serve Safe certified.

1 year food service management experience in a supervisory role required.

Successfully complete Allergen Awareness training within 90 days.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work independently but also be a team player.

Moderate physical effort requiring long periods of standing, walking, and periodic lifting of 50 pounds or more.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Prepare a variety of food fillings by following set menus, recipes and accepted standards of quality and efficiency.

Collect and set up all supplies necessary for the daily operation of the shop.

Accurately record all temperatures of refrigerated equipment.

Maintain inventory of supplies.

Order all food items and supplies necessary to run the shop.

Evaluate and set pricing to meet annual Auxiliary fundraising goals.

Oversee maintenance of equipment and appliances.

Schedule and oversee volunteers in the Coffee Shop.

Act as a resource to Volunteers in the duties to be performed.

Develop and implement training for all volunteers to ensure Board of Health requirements, state mandates and CDH policies.

Ensure that all Serve Safe guidelines are followed by staff and volunteers.

Meet with Coffee Shop Committee at least twice per year to evaluate Coffee Shop needs and ensure volunteer satisfaction.

Provide instruction to volunteers in the duties to be performed.

Serve as the Coffee Shop representative on the Auxiliary Board.

Review Coffee Shop policies and determine revisions if needed.

Keep Material Safety data Sheets up to date to reflect changes in products utilized in Coffee Shop.

Maintain established organizational and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, confidentiality, quality improvement program, safety, compliance and environmental standards.

Meet annual competency and retraining requirements.

Attend meetings as required.

Performs other functions/duties as requested.
