Compensation varies based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, performance, location and salary range at the time of the offer._ **Responsibilities** Supervise the daily operations of the coding area. + Supervise employees performing diagnosis and procedure related coding assignments. + Monitor quality and quantity of work. + Recommend and may implement and deliver training and education for associates. + Determine work priorities, assign and schedule workloads. + Monitor coding activities to support revenue cycle operational goals and strategies. + Act as a resource regarding coding and support the training of new staff and existing staff. + Provide recommendations to improve coding and documentation accuracy. + Assist with compilation, generation and analysis of data for results reporting and performance improvement initiatives. **Requirements** Licensure/Certification/Registration: + One or more of the following required: + Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. + Reg Health Info Admin credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. + Reg Health Info Tech credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. + Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credentialed from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Education: + High School diploma equivalency and 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree and 1 year of experience OR 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. **Additional Preferences** Minimum 3–5 years of professional fee coding experience in a multi-specialty or hospital-based environment. Prior experience with E/M leveling, surgical coding, and complex specialty coding (e.g., cardiology, orthopedics, OB/GYN, oncology) strongly preferred. Familiarity with revenue cycle operations, charge capture, edits, and denials management. Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience, such as lead coder, educator, audit specialist, or interim supervisor desirable. Experience with electronic health records (EPIC preferred) and coding workflow tools (encoder). Advanced knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, CMS guidelines, NCCI edits, and payer-specific policy requirements. Ability to interpret regulatory updates and translate them into actionable guidance for staff. Strong communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across clinical and administrative teams. Demonstrated ability to coach, train, and support coders with varying levels of experience.
