The Coding Specialist is responsible for the timely review of charges submitted by Providers and assigning accurate coding of services (CPT & HCPCS) and diagnosis (ICD-10) to ensure proper billing and effective claim submission to the health plan.

Details:

Role is fully remote

Full IT setup provided

Potential overnight travel 1-2 times per year

Responsibilities:

Review Provider notes to abstract, assign and enter valid ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes into billing platform (NextGen)

Perform medical chart reviews to identify and correct any missed or erroneous HCC codes according to HCC coding requirements.

Work with Providers to gain clarification or provide feedback to resolve coding issues and associated problems

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Certified CPC or CCS required

Certification in CDIP, RHIA, RHIT preferred

4-6 Years prior outpatient coding experience

2 Years risk adjustment coding experience strongly preferred

Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Ability to deal with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment

The Wage Range for the role is $20.00 - $30.00 per hour.

If a candidate is hired, they will be paid at least the minimum wage according to their geographical jurisdiction and the exemption status for the position.

New York Exempt: New York City and Long Island: $64,350.00/year, Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester counties: $64,350.00/year, Remainder of New York state: $60,405.80/year New York Non-exempt: New York City and Long Island: $16.50/hour, Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester counties: $16.50/hour, Remainder of New York state: $15.50/hour

Washington Exempt: $77,968.80/year Washington Non-exempt: Bellingham: $17.66/hour, Burien: $21.16/hour, Unincorporated King County: $20.29/hour, Renton: $20.90/hour, Seattle: $20.76/hour, Tukwila: $21.10/hour, Remainder of Washington state: $16.66/hour
