Welder Qualification (Red Seal advantageous)
Coded Welder
4 – 5 years’ experience as a Welder in a Pipe Fitting environment, qualified in the different welding techniques/procedure being practiced at the company.
Fabrication Workshop and Ship Repairs not mining.
Good Mechanical aptitude
Keen interest in the Welding and Pipe Fitting Environment.
Ability to work with others to achieve job goals
Be able to communicate, read and write effectively in the English language.
Responsibilities / Duties / Job Skills:
Fabrication, Welding, Fitting and installing of all types of Piping and Welding Material, including high pressure Piping, Valves, Couplings, Fittings and other similar tubular products. Securing components together by using agreed and accepted welding techniques and practices in workshop. Selection of appropriate equipment and plan the layout and assembly of the welding & pipe fitting process. Testing of material, welding and fittings by using agreed measurements (Pre and Post Welding and Pipe Fitting) Set up Equipment and Weld Parts using Arc, Gas Shielded Arc, Submerged Arc or Gas Welding equipment. Ensure suitability of all weld equipment. Ensure favourable environmental conditions during welding, as far as reasonable possible. Follow the Work Procedure Specification, sequence and parameters thoroughly, as per applicable project/Works Number, and request for authorization, for any deviation from it. Ensure Weld inches are in line with the daily acceptable targets. Continuous minimizing of weld repairs. Ensure adherence to weld repair instruction. Identify problems (fault finding) and advise on possible appropriate actions to reduce weld defects, and job inaccuracies. Report cost saving measures to management. Follow oral and written direction as required by management, and perform all other related tasks as assigned from time to time. Observe the functioning of Welding and Pipe Fitting, to determine safety hazards and need for adjustments, refitting or replacement. Ensure work areas are at all times neat and tidy. Ensure all equipment and consumables are accounted for and stored and maintained in the proper manner. Observe and follow all safety regulations and report all accidents and near misses to management. Complies with all relevant health, safety, environmental, quality, legal and regulatory requirements as stipulated by company requirements.
