This role plays a vital part in protecting and restoring Louisiana’s coast by supporting essential ecosystem monitoring and management activities. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: + Works with Coastwide Reference Monitoring System (CRMS) data (QA/QC, database management, data analysis and integration into restoration project assessments) + Develops and implements monitoring plans for coastal restoration projects + Collects monitoring data, including vegetation, surface elevation change and accretion, shoreline change, submerged aquatic vegetation, and hydrology data types + Manages monitoring data and interacts with CPRA’s CIMS database + Assesses coastal restoration project effectiveness and composes detailed technical reports for stakeholders + Works with engineers and planners to implement new coastal restoration and flood protection projects + Operates and maintains boats, including shallow draft vessels and airboats Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional Office Location: 635 Cajundome Blvd, Lafayette, LA 70506 Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Coastal Resources Scientist 1, Coastal Resources Scientist 2, or Coastal Resources Scientist 3 depending on level of experience. Compensation: The maximum salary for the Coastal Resources Scientist 3 is $84,136 annually.
